How to Convert a ChatGPT Link to PDF in 2 Steps
January 8, 2026 • 5 min read
Sharing a ChatGPT conversation is easy. Keeping it is harder — share links can be revoked, chats get deleted and screenshots are unreadable a month later. Converting the thread to PDF fixes all three problems at once.
Step 1 — Create the share link
Open the conversation in ChatGPT, tap the share icon at the top right and choose Create link. ChatGPT generates a public URL that looks like chatgpt.com/share/ followed by a long identifier. Copy it.
If the conversation contains anything sensitive, skip the share link entirely and copy the chat text instead — the converter accepts raw text just as happily.
Step 2 — Paste and generate
Paste the URL into the converter box on the homepage and press Generate PDF. The shared page is fetched on the server, every turn is parsed back into structured content, and the document is typeset in your browser.
- Headings keep their hierarchy and rules
- Fenced code sits in a bordered block with a language label
- Markdown tables are redrawn as real grids with repeating headers
- Every page carries a footer with page numbers
What if the link fails?
The two usual causes are an un-shared link and a deleted conversation. Re-share from ChatGPT to mint a fresh URL. A private sidebar URL will never work for anyone but you — paste the text instead.
