Save a ChatGPT Conversation as PDF on iPhone and Android

January 15, 20264 min read

Mobile is where most ChatGPT conversations actually happen, and it is where browser Print to PDF is at its worst. Here is the workflow that works identically on iOS and Android.

Why phone printing struggles

Safari and Chrome both render the ChatGPT web app with its sidebar, sticky composer and virtualised message list. Printing captures whatever the layout engine happens to have mounted, which is why long chats come out truncated.

The mobile-friendly route

Share the chat from the ChatGPT app, copy the link, open the converter in your mobile browser and paste. The PDF is written on-device and lands in Files on iOS or Downloads on Android.

  • No app install and no clipboard permissions
  • Works on cellular — the payload is small
  • The same document you would get on desktop, byte for byte

Sharing the result

Because the output is a normal PDF, it drops straight into Mail, WhatsApp, Slack or a Drive folder, and it stays readable when the original share link is eventually revoked.
